Clueless Trailer Remake

Clueless Trailer Remake

Scope of the project

Over the past month or so I had the  opportunity to remake a trailer to a movie that takes place at school. The idea was to recreate a trailer shot for shot and edit for edit. I got put into a group an we had to decide upon a trailer to recreate and start the process of storyboarding.

Process

Like I stated previously, our first goal was decide on movie trailer and start storyboarding. My group decided on recreating the classic movie "Clueless". To storyboard we went through the real trailer and took screenshots of every single shot and put into a document to print. We then went through the storyboard and numbered each scene and analyzed each shot. We were looking toes if there was any camera movement or any specific instructions that we would need in order to recreate the trailer. While someone in my group analyzed the shots, I started working on the script word for word, someone started looking for costumes, and someone started working on getting the title slides made in Illustrator.  I also created a organization sheet that sorted out all the shots by setting. Within each setting group I organized even further by separating them into each costume. This way when we started filming we could get all the shots in a specific setting in a specific costume all at once instead of having to change into the same outfit several times. After we got this done we started to figure out each persons' schedule. we made a calendar and a group chat so that we could all communicate with each other on when we we able to film. Then we really started shopping and purchasing costumes. We went to Savers to find a couple of pieces and we all went through our closets to get some outfits and we even reached out to other people to get some clothes. Once we had everything gathered up we  started finding actors and actresses to help us produce our trailer. After we got this all done(finally) we could start the filming our trailer. We planned out several days that we could film and everything went fairly smooth and we got a lot done on the days we filmed. Once we got all of our footage we started editing and finding the music to go along with our trailer. We were all a little rushed at the end but we all got it done on time and we all edited the trailer really good.

What did I learn?

I think that I learned a lot about lighting and how important it really is. We had lighting equipment for some of the shots but the lighting didn't exactly match some of the shots in the real trailer. I also learned how important it is too not rush. We had pretty good organization throughout but there were some times that we were rushing to get everything done when we could have taken more time to analyze the shots and make them look closer to real trailer. I also learned more about Premiere and how to use camera equipment. I had never used a dolly before until this video and I really liked how smooth it was a how easy it was to use.

What would I do differently?

Like I said, I would want to take more time analysis the shots so I could make the shots look even closer to the real one. I would also edit my trailer to the real trailer. When I edited my video I edited I did mine first then put it side by side the real one and it didn't line up exactly.

Overall

This project was honestly a great experience. I enjoyed working with my group and we had fun doing this project. I will continue to use everything I learned and use it to enhance my next projects. I really love the movie Clueless and it was really fun to see that classic movie in a modern time.
