Photoshop Reflection

What I learned?

In these tutorials I learned how the basics of revamping a photo using Adobe Photoshop. In one of the tutorials we had to cleanup the background of a guy leaning on a wall. We used the marquee tool to select the portions of the wall that had random things on it and used Content Aware Fill to fill those selections with other parts of the wall. Here is the final result of that tutorial.

In another tutorial we had to cut the tag out of an image of a girl wearing a coat. we had to use the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush tools. I found this tutorial to be a bit tricky because we had to get the area with the tag to have the same texture as the other parts of the jacket. Overall I thought my image turned out fine but it took a couple of tries to get it to look how it does.

In the image of with the father holding his daughter we had to get rid of the pole behind the father's head. In this tutorial we had to use the clone stamp tool and the patch tool. I found that using the patch tool was really easy and made covering up spots a lot easier.

The portrait collage was very difficult for me. I had to start over a couple of times because I messed it up. I also was unable to complete this tutorial because the tutorial videos got deleted and I started a different project. Here is an image of what I got completed.

In the challenge we got use our creativity and revamp an image of a guy modeling. I decided use an image of a tiger print and I turned the opacity down and erased the image to fit the suit. I also then decided to add a black and white filter to the rest of the image. If I could do this tutorial again I would definitely get more creative.

Key Tools

Some of the key tools we used in these tutorials were Marquee Tool, Patch Tool, and the Content Aware Fill Tool. The Marquee Tool is a great tool to cover up a blemish or something that you do not want in the image. It is important because it is a basic tool that is helpful when first using Photoshop. We also learned how to use the patch tool. I liked this tool because it covers a more specific blemish and covers it a lot better the marquee tool. The Content Aware Fill Tool helps cover up a blemish when using the Marquee Tool.

Favorite Skill

The skills that I enjoyed learning the most were communication and collaboration. During this project I had to communicate with my peers to get help and I also communicated with my teacher to get help and participate I class discussion. I also had to collaborate with my peers to get ideas on how to do things and had to collaborate with them to problem solve to figure out how to use some of the Photoshop tools.

My Strengths and Weaknesses

Some of my strengths are editing images in Photoshop. I feel that I use the tools well and I can follow the tutorials good. A weakness of mine is communicating. Throughout these tutorials I have learned that although I ask a few questions here and there I need to ask more questions and communicate with my teacher if I am struggling with something.

What would I do differently?

If I were to do something differently I would probably get more creative on the challenge. I think that if I had more time and knew more about Photoshop I could have created a more unique and creative piece. I also would like to learn more about Photoshop overall.

What would I do the same?

If I were to do something the same I would definitely continue to use what I know about Photoshop to make good images. I also would continue to use my listening skills to follow each specific step and create the right image.

Overall

Overall, These tutorials helped me learn more about the basics of Photoshop. I definitely want to continue to learn more about Photoshop. I am excited to grow my knowledge of Photoshop this year and continue to have fun using Photoshop.
