Procedure Video Review

Procedure Video Reflection

Scope of the project

I have recently completed my first video project in e-Comm. The assignment was to use the 6-shot system to make a video over a procedure/rule that everyone follows at ONW.  My partner and I decided to make a video on how to use your planner at school.

Process

When coming up with the idea we knew we wanted to make a video over something that is important but can be shown in a visually appealing way on the camera. We made a storyboard using the 6-shot system. We had planned out a good way to use your planner and a bad way to use your planner at school. We had just been introduced to the cameras because as freshmen we used iPads to film. Throughout the filming I had an idea of what I wanted the video to look like at the end. I used editing to make the idea in my head come true.

What I learned

I learned the basics of Premiere Pro while learning a few extra things on my own. I wanted to have a freeze frame at the end of the bad example and the good example so I could add a X mark and a checkmark. I also wanted the freeze frame to be in black and white. I looked up on the internet how to do this and it said to right click on the specific point that you want to be freeze framed and you click "Add Frame Hold". Then using color correction I made that clip black and white. To add the image of a checkmark and a X mark I looked up a checkmark transparent and a x mark transparent and imported that into Premiere Pro. Then I dragged that into the freeze frame. I also learned that I need to manage my time better so I can get the video done on the due date. Another thing I learned is how to collaborate and use me and my partner's ideas to make a video.

Using the 6-shot system

This is the title that I chose to use at the beginning of my video. I added an image to the top of the title to pull the audience in. I wanted to font to be simple and I really liked how
this font looked on the black background.

This is my close up shot. I am a bit disappointed
with how this shot turned out. It looks very dark and you can't see the shot very well. If I were to redo this shot I would probably use the iris to brighten up the shot or maybe film in a brighter area.

This is one of my medium shots from the video.
I think this shot turned out good and was in focus
and had good exposure.

This is the shot where I added the freeze frame and added a X mark image on top. Underneath
the image there is a wide shot. I thought the black and white looked good with the checkmark
and it made the X pop. I also did this with a checkmark in a different scene.

This is another close up shots from my video. I would definitely want to redo this because this
shot is out of focus and blurry.

This is my over the shoulder shot. I don't like how the planner is over exposed and you can't
really see what I am writing.

This is a scene that I would definitely want to fix.
The clip looked yellowish so I tried to fix it,
however when I used color correction I made it way worse and I could not figure out how to change it back. I need to look into how to color correct the right way.

Overall

Next time I would probably use the camera better than I did this time. I would use the iris to brighten the video when necessary and focus my shots better. I will continue to use a storyboard to be organized and have my ideas written down. I really liked having someone to collaborate with and share our ideas to make a good video so I definitely would want to continue to do this in the future. Overall I thought this project was successful and I really learned the basics of making a good video.
