My Experience With My Second Feature Story

My Second Feature Story.

Scope of the project 

In this project we were asked to make another feature story. The goal was to improve from our last feature story and use some of the takeaways from the last video to enhance this video. We could make it over anything and I decided to chose to make my video over Premier. Premier is a local baseball facility that works with kids.

Process

I got the idea from my brother. He trains at premier and i decided that this facility would allow me to get some great footage for the video. I decided that I wanted to go to this place with a bit of background and knowledge so I did some research on facility. I then decided to write my questions for the interviews. When I got to Premier I soon realized that I did not consider how loud a BASEBALL facility would be. I did not grab a microphone and the audio levels were a bit off.

What did I learn?

I did not really learn much. I would say that doing this project helped me improve the skills I already had. I learned a bit more about what I need to improve on, but I really just got more experience on doing projects independently. This project has allowed me to see my weaknesses. 

What would I do differently?

As I said earlier I wish I would have grabbed a mic. I should have known that this place was going to be loud. I would also want to execute some of my shots better. When I go filming on my own I tend to forgot about the 6 shot system and some of my shots become the same old medium and did shots. I think that I have a tendency to get uncomfortable when by myself to ask for close up shots and extreme close ups. I am going to work on that though!

What would I do the same?

I would want to continue to get a abundance of b-roll. I thought that having a lot more footage this time really helped improve my video. My first feature story had some repeating clips. This time I went out of my way to get more shots and i think I accomplished that goal.

Overall

I thought that I got better at being professional and not being afraid to ask someone for an interview. I did not shy away from asking people questions asking if I could film them. I got to see where I need improve and where I am strong.
